Bucephalandra sp. flamingo
description
Bucephalandra flamingo is one of the small to medium-sized aquatic plants of its kind. Its name could derive from its coloration and shape, overall its associated entity. It is one of the better-known representatives on the European market and is also very popular there. Two variants are offered under the name "Flamingo". One with slightly narrower leaves and the other with rounder leaves. We offer the most frequently offered plants with the rather rounded leaves here for you. Nothing further is known about the exact origin. Like many of its conspecifics, it will have developed as a rheophyte in streams.
history
The Bucephalandra flamingo, like all Bucephalandra plants, originated in Borneo and has been for some time
cultivated with good results.
Look
Bucephalandra sp. Flamingo is a rather small to medium-sized representative of its kind. It grows somewhat denser from its leaves and therefore also appears more robust. In this variant, the leaves themselves are rounded to geometrically oval in shape and have a smooth structure. As you can see in our photo, the color gets a nice shine, which has its optical appeal. The color can range from a lush green to flamingo hues, depending in part on the appropriate lighting. A very beautiful Bucephalandra, which is also suitable for newcomers.
care
All Bucephalandra belong to the genus Epiphytes (mounting plants). Ideally, Bucephalandra needs a hard surface (hardscape) such as stones, bones, roots, etc. in order to be able to entwine them with its rhizome (stem axis system). It is fixed with a special thread or glue, which we offer for you here in our Buce2Love shop.
Bucephalandras are otherwise very undemanding when it comes to keeping and caring for them and can therefore be described as frugal and therefore particularly well suited for newcomers to the aquarium hobby. They are robust, need medium illumination (species-appropriate lighting) and a temperature like in their home on Borneo, which is between 20 and 28 °C. Ideally, you should still ensure sufficient water movement, as they love it.
Bucephalandra sp. Flamingo does not require any special care and can be handled like all Bucephalandras.
It is advisable to plant them in well-established tanks.
particularities
Actually, every Bucephalandra is something special and is also so popular and coveted in the aquarium hobby due to its variety of species. Bucephalandra naturally grows very slowly, so that the plants become real rarities and thus a collector's item that you can have a lot of fun with. Who doesn't enjoy the calming effect of a local water landscape?!
Our Buce2Love team knows, especially for newcomers, to then look at the photos. Since the designation sp. (spec) and there could be discrepancies in the genus, since there is still no scientific standard catalog that has universal validity.
