Bucephalandra sp. Penelope
Description
Bucephalandra Penelope is a rather smaller aquatic plant. From the naming it is actually a "Tetana", but in the trade it has been dubbed Penelope. Penelope is here associated with the wife of Odysseus from Greek mythology. From the meaning of the word, it can be translated as torn tissue. In the wild, it grows basalt river rocks. On closer inspection, you can describe their appearance as elegant.
History
Like all Bucephalandra plants, the Bucephalandra Penelope has its origin in Borneo and has been cultivated with good success for some time.
Look
Bucephalandra Penelope is one of the small-growing aquatic plants of this species and is one of the most elegant Bucephalandras because of its fascinating leaves. In terms of color, they are dark green from the ground up and go in gradations into a bluish tinge. It also has delicate dots on the leaves and with appropriate lighting it looks almost velvety. The rhizome spreads the red petioles away from it and at the end of it sit these beautiful leaves. As rare and rare as it is, it has definitely become a collector's favorite. A piece of jewelery that you really only want for your aquarium. Because of its small size, it can be easily positioned in the pool.
Maintenance
All Bucephalandra belong to the genus Epiphytes (perch plants). So Bucephalandra ideally needs a hard surface (hardscape) such as stones, bones, roots, etc. to be able to wrap their rhizome (stem axis system) around them. Bucephalandras are otherwise very undemanding in their keeping and care and can therefore be described as frugal and therefore particularly suitable for newcomers to the aquarium hobby. They are robust, require a medium level of illumination (appropriate lighting) and a temperature like in their home on Borneo, which is between 20 and 28 ° C. Ideally, you should ensure that there is sufficient water movement because they love it.
Bucephalandra Penelope does not require any special care and, like all Bucephalandras, can be handled. It is advisable to plant them in basins that have already been retracted.

Bucephalandra naturally grows very slowly, so that the plants become real rarities and thus a collector's item that you can have a lot of fun with.
